blue monday

icky - feeling icky - no other words for it.. might be allergies... might just be an old fashioned cold... but icky is the word of the day.

the local knitting group sent another freebie pattern - this time from rowan - it is in adorable little girls sweater... Lacy Sweater it is called - don't know if i can come up with a pic of it, but there is a link. as always - thanks jess...

i think i might leave it at that for now - if i can raise my head of the pillow later i promise to write more.

Sur La Table....

... went there today... could spend a year's salary there... and still have things i want... aaah a Toys R Us for the kitcheny set.. who could ask for more?

... off the charts with the sock knitting... have the better part of the cuffs done on the spares and the rest.. well let us just say i am knitting soldier socks.. LOL...

... have been away from the ravelry thing for a few days but need to get back to finding interesting patterns that maybe someone might want a connection to. I loved that little sweater from the other day... maybe i should be a -googling... lol

... i got a beautiful gift today - a "glasses lariat" that is hand made and custom made for me.. i will pic it tomorrow as it is not where i can get to it - but it is made of freshwater pearls, leopard jasper and obsidian.. and is gorgeous.. not to mention one of a kind... i am blessed by the people around me...

need a pic to make this right... okay - will go look...

and just like that...

a boulder flies out of nowhere and ... splat.... it's a long long LONG story - the boulders and the rocks in your pockets... and suffice it to say... if it was a fairy tale this is where the kids put their hands over their eyes...or you skip it.. lol

i am still working on soldier socks and a spare... nothing really knew to report on that front -

i received an email newsletter from Classic Elite that had this adorable little sweater - made up of PROVENCE - as a free pdf - originally made up of cashmere the provence would probably make for an "every day" wonder.

I promised...

here are some pics of the "yarnie cakes" - and also of the swift i use. i've devised an interesting method of weighing out half of each skein so i can concurrently knit 2 socks at once without kitting from both ends of a wound ball. Found a really inexpensive food scale and sit my swift on top of it. I can adjust the "0" to accommodate the weight of the swift - so i know exactly when i've hit half way in the ballwinding process and can start my second ball of yarn.

bunnies and eggs and jellybeans and peeps...

... and life and beliefs and all the rest... it's just easter morning... it will be a small, quiet, restful easter sunday - with a little birthday cake chaser... so if you celebrate... happy easter to you ...

the pic is a combo (manip?) of two pictures i've taken... it is a little basic... and a little well... but i figured it was worth the "give it a try" - i've become the proud owner of Photoshop elements - maybe 6? and will see what that will bring in the photography end of things - if i ever get it installed on the computer, that is...

the knitting has been basic. SFS every day and a little bit more on the black socks for the other... and nothing more. But i will be back into ravelry soon to be re-inspired..... i have been enjoying receiving yarns from my various sock clubs... but i don't know if i can elaborate on just what they are... The other day i spent quite some time turning skeins of sock yarn into lovely little divided in two cakes.. so i can' CONCURRENTLY knit socks... i find they are a little more alike that way. some of the new yarns that have just been "caked" or "de-skeined" are from Yarn Pirate, from the Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Club and others. i might have to look into whether it's a spoiler to post what the next delivery will bring.. and i will piccie the cakes so i can post them here.

...today is your...

in my head weaving 'round and 'round today are the Beatles singing... "na na na na na na... today is your birthday.... na na na na na na... well it's my birthday to yeah..." sing along.. if it's your birthday today...

... heading back to the arena tonite for the first time in a while - feel like its been a long ling time - even if it hasn't.. hoping for a decisive win...

... wearing the red and black socks... Working on another pair of black socks plain and the SFS socks right now.. nothing more on the needles - two pairs of socks is enough...

... the son (sun) and his bride are far away this holiday - we will miss them and celebrate without them i suppose...

... oh yes.. who needs cake?

Today... or tomorrow?

People are saying today is the first day of Spring... well i don't agree.. Spring might arrive at some point today.. but tomorrow - TOMORROW I SAY - is the first full day of Spring. I have a vested interest you see. I was very close to being named Spring in its honor... Oh lordy if i fell in love with the same guy and married him what my name would have been - sheesh! Maybe i will wear the socks i made for just this purpose... they might have been better made in october so i could wear them when it was actually freezing... but it is always freezing in a rink - they make ice there...

The holiday here will be simple - i am glad of it. I am heading tomorrow to the game - and hopefully a win - arrg shootouts are boooo. will be going in honor of the day - first day of spring you say - why, yes, i believe it is!

no new piccies today - but am working on socks... really i am...

I'm wearing green - are you?

The day for the wearin' of the green. My corned beef is cooking; the potatoes are peeled. The cabbage is ready for boiling. What makes these things so perfect for march 17th? we all know, now don't we.

i used up the rest of my black and red sock yarn making fingerless mitts for myself and two little wristlets with a ruffle. NO MORE YARN.

i received a package today from an etsy purchase of yarn - looked so springy in the picture that i couldn't resist. so here it is...

it's from No Two Snowflakes. the smaller skein is called peaches and cream - merino hand-dyed. The larger skein is the one that truly caught my eye - it is called Imagination - and the large skein is 1120 yards of fingering weight superwash merino. Might could make a marvelous shawl.

another friday

it's friday...i actually finished a pair of socks last night for myself. i'd been working on another pair of ridged feather socks in njd colors for me to wear to games - it's blasted cold in an ice arena (ya think?) - but hated the way the colors played out on the ridged feather pattern. so i tinked them back and made them vanilla socks that will just keep my feet warm. They are made from Knitivity's sock yarn - darn that i don't remember the colorway - but they are red and black so i would bet it's easy to figure out. i love the sock yarn - it has bounce and stretch and even having tinked it back the socks still look nice. no splitting of yarns and no icky ... here is a piccie...

I am working on my inch a day with SFS - will get there i am sure.

And right now, mindless knitting is using up the red and black sock yarn into fingerless mitts for the same games. Mind that it's March already and the regular season is about over? Nah... i will hope to watch games far into the playoff season. Perhaps they will even have to keep the arena colder as it will be warmer outside. Who knows?

the cardinals have found a spot to live somewhere in the tangle that is our far back. I see them 'round just about every day now. So we will have another summer of that peepy sound. nice...

Elevendy-leven

Three months have almost gone in 2008 already - i do not have much to show for them. I should get a move on i think.

Ravelry has caught my attention often lately, as there seem to be so many different things i am interested in doing. There is a Gina House offering - THE AMANDA HAT - which is just adorable and which i want to start... and these absolutely amazing mittens called CHEVALIER by Tikru. The website is not in English, but the pattern is if you look for it. While trolling for other patterns to look into, i found someone raving about Ribbed Mitts - a fingerless glove pattern on Ravelry... and on the web - the blog the info appeared on is WARM HANDS and Maud's made them three times - from the looks of her other projects - i easily take her word on how nice they are!

As for photos... none today as i have nothing to report. Okay okay... you will have to make do with the fact that i just changed my "profile" pic. Promise to be better at it...

it's not me...

i've tried to post.. i've tried to upload a pic or two.. but somehow... the blogger gods are saying NO. In actuality, I am trying to upload photos right now and it is STILL saying no...

i've been at my photos again lately - and reminded myself of a few that might be interesting to post here. so it's a morning breaks and forgotten angel kind of day...

i mailed my "care package" of stuff to SFS today - no socks yet but i am working on them.. ok?

i also mailed my baby gift package to the nephew's family. maybe i should post that pic too... will look for it... lol

i am knitting away on the sfs socks - they will need to be dyed but i think it is okay.
i am also knitting the pair of red-black striped socks for games. but not done yet.

the words to i will love you by fisher are locked in my brain - if you've not heard it - do the click you will not be sorry... i know he knows ... but i will ...

"here is the deepest secret nobody knows...and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart.... i carry your heart... i carry it in my heart." eec

It's today...

... i've finished all three pairs of booties. i made the last pair like black patent mary janes out of Regia Silk - i sooo hope i have little white pearl buttons but if not... off to the button repository i go. I don't usually post a place to purchase the yarn, but the yarn's home site is auf deutch - so i didn't post it....

I got to see Son the Elder and his Bride this weekend... always always makes me smile. She was happy with the added length on her cropped sweater, so i am doubly happy....

It's laundry day...icky... but let's just do it and get it over with.

There were flocks and flocks this weekend - and even a group (not a flock as there were only 10 or so) of Baltimore Orioles eating in my yard. Amazing what a little looking out the back window will find. Our resident hawk is still about - and i am glad for it as i hope it will continue to help with the chipmunk population (which we cannot spay or neuter, thanks mr. barker).

thanks for comments when you post them...
