Labor not on Labor Day

Well, here comes the end of summer, charging over on the calendar and not stoppin' for nobody. My week last was spent in the rain near the beach, although i never actually got to the water. so hopefully next time.

In order to help out a friend who was struggling with a technique, i used my trusty camcorder to record the information and spent the next 3 days trying to understand how to turn the bloody thing into a DVD. Happily and thanks to Son the Elder (aka Phil) i have been able to send on the dvd of twisted german cast on and socks on circulars to my dear friend.

this weekend's plans are up in the wind, but i like it that way - never needs written in stone anymore - some sandstorm just comes along and wipes out what you've written.

little pink cardie

well the weekend saw the finish of the pink cardie and the re-start of big black socks. i have one sock of the 4 i have planned ready for the home stretch of rounds to the toe. ihope to get the other one to that stage before i have to get in the car for any period of time. the repetition of knit knit knit with no thought of stopping is easy when riding in a vehicle.

here are the pics of the cardie resting after its bath in SOAK

Since i've yet to figure out how to do a picture page here...

i will post a couple shots of the inside of the white bag - long gone to my dear sister - and then a couple pics of the pink cardie done and drying

And one to go...

The little white bag is done. i found a belt on clearance at marshalls that works so well for the strap. will take a photo or two of the inside tomorrow - but here is the outside - the bead/button clasp is outrageous and from a small bead store in nyc.

There's booze in the blender....

well if there's not, there should be. The weekend was nice and sunny and sunny and nice. i am almost done with the body section of my little cardie... will be back to my socks for soldiers socks tonite as i received my black yarn to complete feet. i have never completed machine knit legs before, so this should be pretty quick, i hope.

I watched the last days of princess diana movie-whatever last night. Interesting that they know what two dead people said to each other in private.....

Saturday night's all right for fighting....

Another weekend is upon us. i finished knitting up the bag in white cotton (not to be confused with knights in white satin) but no blocking yet, nor lining nor strap. i am toying with the idea of going to a discount store and buying a leather belt and using that - but will not be doing that today.

Cooking up a big pot of italy today and sharing it with friends this evening - what the hell was Elton John talking about anyway? no fighting over italian food - N E V E R

Can you hear the old man snoring????

Talk about pouring! I am happy to have a "soft" day now and again but today i feel like i should dust off the ark! Wow, it is truly raining here today - not a little drippy drizzle.

I've made some progress on the little cropped cardie... although i must take my photos INDOORS today... I am also making progress on the white cotton bag. must try to finish that this weekend. I have some relatively plain cream lining fabric that i can use on it - i think the simpler the better with this bag.

Thursday is market day

Today is farmers market day here - but it is currently steambath hot and i don't know if i will go or not. I am still working on the white cotton bag for sister dearest - and have started a small fitted cardie for a gift.

another day....

Tuesdays with Morrie here - today is my standing appointment so i don't really get started on the day. I am working on a plain cotton bag for my sister for summer wear - sort of just doing it as i go along from stash yarn i dug into. Stone Cotton I believe. After working with lots of sock yarn, bigger yarn feels like knitting with rope!

Getting Better all the time....

I finally finished the fake-a-gamo purse i started last year. I had the knitting 95% done when i ran out of the Provence i was using for it. Of course, by the time i got the yarn i was into something else. so away to the back burner it went - and promptly it dropped off the face of the earth. Earlier this month, organizing sock yarn and such, i came across the 2 skeins of Provence - and dug into my stash until i found the purse. I LOVED the original and wanted mine to have a more constructed top, so i dug again and found an old leather purse that i could dismantle. The result appears here for your viewing pleasure.
